On December 10, 2009, in an article entitled “Smithsonian settles asbestos lawsuit,” the Washington Post discussed the Smithsonian Institution’s $233,000 settlement with whistleblower Richard Pullman, a client of Katz, Marshall & Banks. The article noted that earlier in 2009, Smithsonian Secretary G. Wayne Clough ordered a study by an outside consultant into the Smithsonian Institution’s handling of asbestos. The article also cited KMB partner David J. Marshall, who described a worker’s compensation appeal resolved in favor of Mr. Pullman that allows him to obtain reimbursement for asbestos-related ailments and benefits if he becomes disabled or dies as a result of his asbestosis.
