Avi Kumin, Partner
Avi Kumin, one of the founders of Katz, Marshall & Banks, LLP, has developed an expertise in employment discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower claims, employment contracts, and Family and Medical Leave Act claims. Mr. Kumin has also specialized in litigating post-9/11 backlash discrimination and retaliation cases. Prior to joining Katz, Marshall & Banks, LLP, Mr. Kumin was a senior associate at Bernabei & Katz, PLLC.
Mr. Kumin lectures about Family and Medical Leave Act, disability, retaliation, and other employment issues, including recently before the D.C. Bar Association's pro bono employment law training program and the Montgomery County Bar Association. Mr. Kumin is a member of the District of Columbia and California Bar Associations.
Avi Kumin received a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Brandeis University in 1996, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In 2000, he received a J.D. degree from Yale Law School. Mr. Kumin was Editor of the Yale Human Rights and Development Law Journal. Following law school graduation, Mr. Kumin served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Tena Campbell, U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. Mr. Kumin has authored the following articles:
