Jurisdiction

1. The boundaries or kuleana of a union's representation as determined usually by the type of work an employee performs. In construction organizing, for example, the question arises whether the work being done by a laborer more properly belongs to a carpenter or an electrician. 2. The boundaries or authority of a given court of law which govern, for instance, where a suit or a claim should properly be filed.
