Katz, Marshall & Banks partner Debra Katz was honored in October as a recipient of the Washington Business Journal’s C-Suite Awards. On Thursday, the Washington Business Journal hosted their annual awards dinner and published profile pieces to celebrate the winners. Business leaders shared stories of their journeys, and discussed how this year has brought changes to their respective fields.
Over the past year, Ms. Katz has been in the news locally and nationally for her work representing Chloe Caras in her case against Mike Isabella’s restaurant company. Recently, Ms. Katz represented Dr. Christine Blasey Ford who brought allegations of sexual assault against then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Ms. Katz spoke with the magazine about how her passion for social justice has fueled her career. She shared her thoughts on the lasting impact of the #MeToo movement and what the challenges will be in the future.
As for what she is most proud of from the last year: “… my work with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Getting to represent somebody of such courage and integrity, who took such an immense risk to come forward and testify, was for me an incomparable honor as a lawyer.”
