Katz, Marshall & Banks partner Debra Katz spoke on a panel at the American Constitution Society National Convention, “Women’s Rights as Human Rights: Raising the Floor & Shattering the Ceiling.” The American Constitution Society hosts public programs, provides networking opportunities, and serves as a leading progressive legal association, with student and lawyer chapters across the country.
Ms. Katz spoke about the progress that has been made in gender equality in the last decade from the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to the #MeToo movement. At the same time, women – especially low income women and women of color – continue to face discrimination in the workplace, and threats to their reproductive rights. Ms. Katz discussed what legal strategies can be used to continue to fight for gender equality despite likely obstacles from conservative courts and the Trump administration.
