Katz, Marshall & Banks partner Lisa Banks spoke at a United Women in Business Foundation event, “Advocates & Allies against Workplace Gender Harassment.” It has been over a year since the #MeToo movement began, and activists have forced the epidemic of workplace sexual harassment into the public consciousness, and countless abusers have been brought to justice.
The Washington D.C. chapter of the UWIB hosted this event to discuss how women can take advantage of the moment to lead meaningful conversations on creating better workplace cultures, and how to prevent issues in the future.
Ms. Banks spoke about what legally constitutes sexual harassment, and what that looks like in a real-life office settings. Focusing on preventative measures, she discussed factors that may predict a discrimination or harassment problem in the future.
Joining Ms. Banks were Ms. Reese Everson, an author, attorney, and women’s rights advocate; and Mical Owens, a veteran human resources expert.
